We Are More Important Than Our Offerings

Gen 4:3 & 5, And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. But He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. Gen 4:4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, In an other translation it is saying, "Gen 4:4

Abel brought the best parts from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD accepted Abel and his gift." In NIV it says "The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,"

Now the Question is, " Why God accepted Abel and his Offering was and did not accept Cain and his gift?"

Abel

Cain

Gen 4:2 Later Eve gave birth to his brother Abel., and Cain worked the soil.

Gen 4:1 Eve became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man."

Now Abel kept flocks (a Shepard)

Cain was a tiller of the ground. Cain became a farmer.

Gen 4:4 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. Abel brought the best parts from some of the firstborn of his flock. (Because in Exo 34:25 "Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me)

Gen 4:3 Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. (Exo 34:26 "Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.)

Gen 4:4 The LORD accepted Abel and his gift, In NIV "The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, (For forgiveness of our sin in Lev 16:9 Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the LORD and sacrifice it for a sin offering.)

Gen 4:5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. (Lev 9:3 Then say to the Israelites: 'Take a male goat for a sin offering, a calf and a lamb both a year old and without defect for a burnt offering,

Lev 9:4 and an ox and a ram for a fellowship offering to sacrifice before the LORD, together with a grain offering mixed with oil. For today the LORD will appear to you.'") Grains from the field can be offered but first the sin offering then others. The meaning is we are more important if our sins are not forgiven then there is no use in giving offerings unto the Lord.

Prov 3:11 My child, do not reject the Lord's discipline. And don't become angry when he corrects you. Prov 14:29 A person who does not quickly get angry shows that he has understanding. But a person who quickly loses his temper shows his foolishness. Prov 15:18 A person who quickly gets angry causes trouble. But a person who controls his temper stops a quarrel. Prov 29:22 An angry person causes trouble. A person who easily gets angry sins a lot. Eccl 7:9 Don't become mad quickly, because getting angry is foolish.

Gen 4:6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? [1 Cor 13:5 Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not become angry easily.]

Psa 11:5 The Lord tests those who do right. But he hates the wicked and those who love to hurt others. Psa 37:17 The power of the wicked will be broken. But the Lord supports those who do right. Psa 97:11 Light shines on those who do right. Joy belongs to those who are honest.

Gen 4:7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."

Abel was very innocent. When his brother called him, he did not doubt him and went with him. [1 Cor 13:7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.]

Gen 4:8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Lev 19:11 "'Do not steal. "'Do not lie. "'Do not deceive one another. Psa 31:18 Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous. Psa 120:2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.

Prov 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, But those who deal truthfully are His delight.

Gen 4:9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don't know," (Even to God he very boldly tells a lie.) he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"

The nature

Cain replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?" [Boldly sins by questioning God "there is no conscience". The nature of Cain also not good arrogant.

King David when sinned against God, Psa 51:11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Gen 4:16 Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.

Not a house for living but building a city is to make name for themselves.

Gen 4:17 Cain begotten Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch. Not building a house for living here builds a city in the name of his Son just to establish their name. No time for God.

Mat 23:35 "that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel …"

Deu 6:25 And if we are careful to obey all this law before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness."

But Cain was not said as righteous. Not following the word of God.

Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

Not given Excellent Sacrifice (Sacrifice means an animal that is killed and offered to God.)

Mat 5:37 "But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. Mat 6:13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. John 17:15 "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

1 John 3:12 Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous.

Acts 18:26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. Prov 12:15 The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. Prov 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Jude 1:11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

It says very clearly not to be like Cain. Because, even today this spirit is working very much in the world. If we like to go to heaven the right principle is First present yourself to God who has created you as a living sacrifice and offer your full mind, heart, soul and every thing you may have to God. Is it possible to bribe God to achieve our own purposes? May the Lord help us to be like Abel. Since Abel’s life was acceptable to God, the Bible says like this God accepted Abel and his offering and rejected Cain and his offerings.

May the Lord help us to come to the place in which our life is as per the word of God and so we may be also like "Abel" be accepted by Him. May this month and week be good for you. We are more Important to God than our Purse.
