Our Lord Jesus Christ in his ministry had many women followers
also. We feel woman are very important in our Present church ministry.
In the sight of our Lord they are very Important that is why the Bible
says in Prov 14:1 The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish
tears it down with her own hands. What ever the earnings of the
husband may be still it is the wisdom of the wife which helps him to have
success in the family life. God made her as an individual for a special
Purpose. Without woman man can not be complete that is why God told man
has to leave his Father and Mother and Joint with her so that they can
become one single unit as it was told in Gen 2:24 For this cause
a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife;
and they shall become one flesh.
How to be wise and build the house? [Proverb 31:10 to 31]
An excellent wife, who can find? [wife of noble character who can find?]
For her worth is far above jewels.[She is worth far more than
rubies.]
The Bible talks about her characters.
- The heart of her husband will trust her fully. She is trustalble
in every walk of her life. Prov 31:11 The heart of her husband trusts
in her, [Her husband has full confidence in her] And he
will have no lack of gain. [lacks nothing of value.] Why
her husband lacks nothing?
- She is committed to promote her husband and help him to come up
in his carrier. Prov 31:12 She does him good and not evil All the
days of her life. [ She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her
life.]
How she helps her husband?
- She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. When
one works with interest on her own with out any compulsion there won’t
be any murmering, there will be prosperity. Prov 31:13 She looks for
wool and flax, And works with her hands in delight.
- She puts lot of planning in doing the work. She is not a easy
going type. Ready to go anydistance just to get the needed thing. Willing
to carry the load for others. Not simply managing the family by giving
some thing very ordinary but to give the proper food and to do the right
thing at the right time willing to take extra interest and pain for
the family. [ She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from
afar.] In Prov 31:14 She is like merchant ships; She brings her food
from afar.
- On her own gets up in the early morning and provides food to all
at home and even
- Takes care of her servants needs. [She gets up while it is
still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant
girls.] In Prov 31:15 She rises also while it is still night, And gives
food to her household, And portions to her maidens.
- She is not an ordinary wife but a woman who has power to
do transactions for the good of the family [to do that she must
have enough knowledge on various fields, must have the power to take
decisions] In Prov 31:16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her
earnings she plants a vineyard.
- She can have her own income also. She is not a person totally
depend on others. She can have her own way of making some money and
knows how to use her income in a profitable way. [ From her earnings
she plants a vineyard.]
How this all possible for a woman?
The Bible is not talking about a weak woman who is a slave to a man
with out any brain and ability. She takes care of herself. Unless a
woman takes care of herself she can not take care of others in her family.
In Prov 31:17 She girds herself with strength, And makes her arms strong.
- She works with self confidence. She is not lazy to work at
any time even in the night. In Prov 31:18 She senses that her gain is
good; Her lamp does not go out at night.
- She is not only taking care of the food but other things of the
family and putting her efforts on that Prov 31:19 She stretches
out her hands to the distaff, And her hands grasp the spindle.
- She is kind and merciful to others, has a concern for the
poor and needy ones and gives to others. Prov 31:20 She extends her
hand to the poor; And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
- Various areas of the family in different seasons like, How they are
going to face the winter? She thinks and work in advance like the
ants. So she need not to fear because of her planning and forsight.
In Prov 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household, For all
her household are clothed with scarlet.
- She takes care of her dress and her public appearance is presentable.
In Prov 31:22 She makes coverings for herself; Her clothing is fine
linen and purple.
- Her husband is well known for his fame that she is not putting
him down before others. 50% of his success is because of her hardwork.
Prov 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the
elders of the land.
- She knows very well how to make money or do the business. In
Prov 31:24 She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies belts
to the tradesmen.
- She is not a very frail person without any personality of her
own. She is strong as well as a dignifie person. In Prov 31:25 Strength
and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future.
- She is not a Idiot, a feebleminded or foolish person not a
arrogant woman. In Prov 31:26 She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the
teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
- She is carefully takes care of her house and keeps herself very
busy, full of activity not lazy. In Prov 31:27 She looks well to
the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.
- She is very much appreciated by her children. Her husband also
acknowledges her work and appreciates her. In Prov 31:28 Her children
rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
In Prov 31:29 "Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all."
It is not charm and beauty which is very much valuable for a woman
in the Bible. In Prov 31:30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But
a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
As God gives the reward for all, the same way give her the honour of
her labour. In Prov 31:31 Give her the product of her hands, And
let her works praise her in the gates.
How to get such a great wisdom to build our own
house for the glory of God?
In the Bible in James 1:5 If any of you lacks
wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding
fault, and it will be given to him. So asking God with the child
like Faith is the way to get wisdom.
What must be our attitude when we ask God to
give us wisdom?
James 1:6 But when he asks, he must believe and
not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and
tossed by the wind. James 1:7 That man should not think he will receive
anything from the Lord; James 1:8 he is a double-minded man,
unstable in all he does.
