Acts 8:5, “Philip went down to a
city in Dear
brothers and sisters, Loving
greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today let us see, how we can
proclaim the name of our lord Jesus Christ in a new place or how we can start
Like our
Lord Jesus Christ did during His earthly life, Philip also had two fold
ministries right from the beginning, namely preaching the word of God to all
and proving the power of God to all with the signs and wonders. Because of
this two fold approach he had in his City ministry, the crowd came in good
number and paid close attention to what he said as in Acts 8:6, “When the
crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close
attention to what he said.” He could
demonstrate to the crowd the love and power of God almighty because of the
deliverance they had from the demons and the miracles as in Acts 8:7, “With
shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were
healed.” The city received the word of God which came to them with its signs
and wonders very happily as in Acts 8:8, “So there was great joy in that
city.” In his
ministry he could attract even such people who had a good control over the
city people through their sorcery as in Acts 8:9 to 11, “Now for some time a
man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people
of When the
word of God is preached to any city people with its power through the
demonstration of the Holy Spirit people will definitely believe the lord
Jesus Christ and take water baptism as in Acts 8:12, “But when they believed
Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of
Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” At lost
the great man who was called the “Great Power” Simon the sorcerer also
believed the lord and took water baptism in obedience to the word of God as
in Acts 8:13, “Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed
Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.” That
is why the earl apostles also prayed to God when they had any persecutions
that God may stretch forth His hands and perform many miracles in the name of
our lord Jesus Christ as in Acts 4:29 & 30, “Now, Lord, consider their
threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders
through the name of your holy servant Jesus." May the
lord help us today to have this type of two fold approach to the Evangelistic
outreach what we may be doing in the cities and make a real impact our its
population for the glory of God. Amen. Your
