Prov 12:14, “From the fruit of his lips (the fruit of his words) the fruit of his words, a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him.”

Dear brothers and sisters,

Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today let us see about the importance of speaking very politely, using all good and gentle words with all human beings along with our good works, as we live on this world. In the world nowadays, many people who are really working hard are not having a good reward for their work because they are not having the gift of speech. And they are not even bothered to develop their speaking skills because they trust mainly on their hard work only. But the bible the word of God advises us to have the fruit of the lips to have our hands reward. This is also a fact that by our observation we can learn that the people who are speaking nicely are not often working very hard in life. Many of those who work very hard are having a very short temperament and they will get easily angry with those who are not working hard like them. On the other hand there are many people who speak very convincingly with sweet, loving and persuasive words but they won’t work hard in their life. The bible teaches the importance of both in the life of a believer so that he can be used to build the kingdom of God and get his reward on this earth for all his hard work.

Apostle James says if we cannot control our own tongue our religion is a waste as in James 1:26, “If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.” Also he says it is a fire and it can burn the whole life as in James 3:5 & 6, “So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. Behold, how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! Vs.6, And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.”

The bible says the pleasant words are like honeycomb and it will heal many as in Prov 16:24, ‘Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” We should not speak any think without thinking in a haste as in Prov 29:20, “Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” The one, who is controlling himself well, can speak gentle words and the bible says it will turn away the wrath of the people as in Prov 15:1, ‘A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.” When we use the right word in the right time it will be very valuable to all, as in Prov 25:11, ‘Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances.”

May the lord help each one of us to have a well-controlled temperament to speak good and sensible words in the right time to gain good fruits of our lips so that it can go along with our hard work and bring prosperity in life. Amen.
