Luke 1:13, “But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.”

Dear brothers and sisters,

Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today let us see about our Lord who answers all our prayers. When we are not having a child of our own and feel very much desperate to have our own child, since God has all powers on earth and heaven easily he can speak to us and give a child. I am speaking for both about the physical and the spiritual children since bareness is a curse and God has called us to be a blessing to others. Are we not desperate today to have a child of our own? I mean both the physical and spiritual children since the bible condemn bareness. God can select and call the people who are barren if they are really righteous. When this servant of God Zechariah was chosen to serve the lord by His divine will as in Luke 1:9, “he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.” He was silently praying for years in his heart for his wife to have a child of their own. So the lord who sees all sends an angel to say your prayers are answered. Do you have a desperate prayer before the almighty God? I like to remind you that we are having a prayer answering God. Soon you will name the child whom God has given unto you..

If you ask me why God has selected Zechariah for this holy service to stand before God for all his people of his time?
Both the husband as well as the wife lived a life according to the word of God which was pleasing before the Lord as in Luke 1:6, “Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commandments and regulations blamelessly.” We must live a similar life for the lord who see all things and judge properly. Let us live a life according to the word of God so that God who sees every thing may consider us also to stand before the lord pray and intercede for the people of our time. When we live a righteous life as per the word of God we will get the answer for all our prayers as in Isa 59:1 & 2, “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”

Why God gives us a child as an answer to our prayers? Do you think God also has a purpose when He gives a child to you?
This is mainly to make us to do or contribute something for the kingdom of God. So we must have a heavenly vision to get and raise a child for God as per His will on earth. Let us see the purpose of God behind giving a child and it will give us also a heavenly motive to raise a child for the glory of God:
1. When we do the will of God the child whom God is giving unto us will bring only the joy of God to us as well us to all as in Luke 1:14, “He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,
2. God will give us a child who can do great things for the great almighty God as in Luke 1:15, “for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.” Do we believe our children can do great things for the lord?
3. There is a cost to pay and a divine condition to fulfill. When we get a child from the lord we must raise the child as per the conditions given by God in the word. There must be a real dedication to raise the child as per the word of God as in Luke 1:15, “He is never to take wine or other fermented drink,
4. He will have the anointing of God right from the birth so that the child can also like the parents can live a life of deliverance and right things from the birth without deliberately sinning like other children of his age so that he will not grieve the Holy Spirit of God who is living in him as in Luke 1:15, “and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.”
5. The child must do the will of God and fulfill the purpose of God and that is to bring the worldly people back to the kingdom of God so he will be a great contributor to the kingdom of God. Godly parents must have this type of vision about the kingdom of God rather than raising a child for their own benefits as in Luke 1:16, “Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God.”
6. This must be the desire of all the parents that my child must stand for the will of God and work for the lord as in Luke 1:17, “And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—
7. God will use our children to prepare the way for the coming of the lord, since He is going to come very soon before His coming there are certain things we have to complete, so that He can come quickly as in Luke 1:17, “to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

May the lord bless each on of us as we pray and wait for a divine answer from the lord today. Amen.

Further Bible Study

Gen 41:16 "I cannot do it," Joseph replied to Pharaoh, "but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires."
We need real preparation to have the word of God. Exo 19:9 to 11, “The LORD said to Moses, "I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you." Then Moses told the LORD what the people had said. And the LORD said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes and be ready by the third day, because on that day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.”
Are you serving the almighty God or the king of this earth? 1 Sam 8:10 to 18, “Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. He said, "This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day."
