{The message}
Num 27:18 “So the LORD said to
Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand on him.”
Dear brothers and sisters,
Loving Greetings in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Today let us see about the
importance of having the calling of the Lord in our life to do any leadership
ministry in this world for the glory of the Lord.
The bible says about the call of
God in Heb 5:4 No one takes this honor upon himself;
he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. So here in this portion we
see Moses the servant of the Lord is praying to God that the Lord may appoint
some one to lead the people of Israel as we see in Num 27:16 "May
the LORD, the God of the spirits of all mankind, appoint a man over this
community.
Moses prayed for that and God
immediately gave him reply in Num 27:18 to 20, ‘So the LORD said to
Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand on him. Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission
him in their presence. Give him some of your authority so the whole
Israelite community will obey him.”
Our Lord Jesus Christ told us to
pray as we see the need for more workers in this world as in Mat 9:37 & 38, “Then he
said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are
few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his
harvest field." That is what we see Moses the great man of God
did. He asked God to appoint one person. So let us not do what God
has to do in this world but let us start praying for an answer.
May the Lord help each one of us to understand the importance
of the call of God and get His guidance to do any ministry for him. Amen.
3. For Further Bible Study
(Mat 4:18
NIV) As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee,
he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his
brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
(Mat 4:21
NIV) Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with
their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus
called them,
(Mat
10:1 NIV) He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority
to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
(Mark 1:20
NIV) Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
(Mark 3:13
NIV) Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted,
and they came to him.
(Mark 3:23
NIV) So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can
Satan drive out Satan?
(Mark 9:35
NIV) Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone
wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."
(Mark 10:42
NIV) Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who
are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high
officials exercise authority over them.

Canada
1 The
Christian Church has become marginalized in Canadian society
2 Evangelical
witness has generally declined through the 20th
Century
a) Evangelicals
represented 25% of the population in 1900, but less than 8% in 1989; this had
risen, however, to 10.8% by 2000
b) Canadian
Evangelicals are working together more effectively than in earlier years but
are still too fragmented
c) There are
positive signs. The newer evangelical groups are growing, using new structures
and styles
3 Vision
Canada, nurtured under the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, was launched by 40
denominations and agencies
4 The
large number of Bible institutes, colleges and theological seminaries committed
to a Biblical view of Scripture are fulfilling a major role in strengthening
evangelical witness
5 French
Canadians are 85% Catholic in culture, but a decreasing number of them (25%)
ever attend mass
a) Increased
receptivity amidst growing social and political change and instability
b) Quebec
separatism, which is a potent political movement with unknown implications for Canada's
future
c) The small, but
growing, French-speaking Protestant missionary force
d) The growing
prayer movement in Quebec that is bringing together believers from many
denominations
e) Continued growth
in fruitful fellowship between denominations
