Today's Rhema
Mark 10:42 to 44, “Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all."

Dear brothers and sisters,

Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today let us see about the differences between the worldly gentile’s leadership and the Christian spiritual leadership. This is what Jesus Christ has taught to his disciples. The Lord Jesus Christ himself served us as a role model to all of us to follow Him as a servant leader in this world as in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Our Lord Jesus Christ has advised all his disciples to wear the spirit of humility in the heart and function as a servant in nature. He also taught them not to be filled with pride and arrogance that we may not fall in our spiritual walk with the Lord as in Mat 23:11 & 12, "But the greatest among you shall be your servant. Vs.12, "And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.”

In this world the leaders exercise lot of authority over the people and rule them as in Mark 10:42, “Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.” Though we are living in the same world we are not suppose to follow them or their life style because we are all following the Lord Jesus Christ who had lived a different life style in this world and asked us to follow it. Jesus told his disciples if any one want to be the leader let him be the servant of all as in Mark 10:43 & 44,
1. Jesus told his disciples clearly “Not so with you. Since the Gentile rulers of this world lord it over them - [we must try to be different and without any spirit of arrogance but only filled with kindness and love.]

2. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, - [we must be willing to serve one another in love as the master Jesus did.]

3. vs.44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.” – [we must learn to serve all to become a leader of all.]

May the lord help us to follow the lord Jesus Christ very faithfully carefully and be a servant leader likes him so that we can be spiritual and not worldly in our life. Let us also serve all with love and long suffering so that we can win some more souls to the kingdom of God. Amen.

Further Bible Study

Mat 20:26 "It is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, Mat 20:27 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; Mat 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
Mark 9:35 And sitting down, He called the twelve and said^ to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.” Mark 9:36 And taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, Mark 9:37 "Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me."
Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
Luke 22:26 "But not so with you, but let him who is the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as the servant.

Today's Prayer

Gabon

1 The 1990s have been a time of God’s moving in Gabon
2 Peoples of the interior, long unreached and even out of bounds for evangelical missionaries, have opened up for the gospel
3 Libreville, the sophisticated, cosmopolitan capital had only 16 evangelical congregations in 1990. There are now 125, some very large
Challenges for Prayer
1 Gabon is a spiritual battlefield
2 Muslims have multiplied over the past 20 years — initially by immigration of Hausa, Fulani and other West African Muslims, and more recently by conversions among Gabonese men
3 The Catholic Church retains its old political influence, and the majority of the population were baptized Catholic, but a large number still follow the old animist ways
4 The first major Protestant denomination was the fruit of French missionary work, but the legacy of liberal theology has been a stagnant, nominal daughter church with a leadership more concerned with social issues than evangelism
5 The evangelical witness was long limited to the CMA (EACMG) and several smaller indigenous denominations, mainly Pentecostal
6 There is a dearth of indigenous church leaders
7 Vision for the future
a) A national survey of Gabon’s peoples and prefectures was carried out in the 1990s
b) Plans were laid to act on its findings by planting churches in every people
c) The CMA’s implementation through Operation Village for Jesus (1999-2000) and Operation Barnabas (2000-2001) has been very successful
d) The vision is that by 2025 Evangelicals be 20% of the country’s population
e) Pray that missions vision among leaders become part of the life of congregations
8 Less reached peoples:
a) The 58 unevangelized peoples of the interior
b) The east and northeast regions were long closed for Evangelicals
c) The Fang are the dominant people (28% of the population) and largely Protestant or Catholic
d) The Babinga, or Pygmies, live in the virgin forest and are despised by other peoples
9 Help ministries
a) Bible translation has been a neglected ministry, and a comprehensive linguistic survey is required
b) The JESUS film in French is shown widely, and is in production for 3 more languages
c) GRN has made recordings available in 25 languages
d) Both national radio and TV are wide open avenues for evangelism and Bible teaching, but are neglected
e) Literature
f) Bongolo Hospital ministers to both the physical and spiritual needs of the thousands who visit every year
