Dear brothers and sisters,
Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Today let us see about the importance of using the God
given talents, knowledge and abilities to reach and educate others
for the glory of the lord without wasting our time. The bible
says the lord is going to come very quickly as in Rev 22:20, “He
who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."
Amen. But when the lord comes, he is going to give every one as
per their own work they have done for the Lord as in Rom 2:6,
“God "will give to each person according to what he
has done." So whatever we have learnt we must be ready to
use it for the glory of God. Following Christ must result in catching
men for the master as in Mat 4:19 "Come, follow me,"
Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
Our Lord Jesus Christ has taught all His disciples
many things about the kingdom of God but after teaching them finally
he said to them to go out and preach the gospel (good news) to
all the world and teach what all I have taught as in Mat 28:19
& 20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, Vs.20 and teaching them to obey everything I
have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very
end of the age."
Apostle Paul also taught many things to his disciples
and then he told them to select and teach those who can be also
helpful to teach many more people as in 2 Tim 2:2, “And
the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses
entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Here the Apostle Paul is encouraging the believers
to do or to involve themselves in the evangelistic work. Many
feel they have to go and learn more and more but they never feel
that they can also do some ministry for the Lord until their last
breath. So Apostle Paul says in an encouraging away in “Rom
15:14, “I myself am convinced, my brothers,
1. That you yourselves are full of goodness, - [you are good to
do the work]
2. Complete in knowledge and – [you can start with the knowledge
what you have now.]
3. Competent to instruct one another.”- [You are really
capable of instructing others about God.]
Apostle Paul says that other who is not spiritual
minded cannot understand the things of God. He says with confidence
that we have the mind of Christ as in 1 Cor 2:15 & 16, “The
spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself
is not subject to any man's judgment: Vs.16, "For who has
known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But
we have the mind of Christ.” After knowing God if we are
not doing the will of God and spread the knowledge of God using
our talents then we will be punished for burying the talents as
in Mat 25:30, “And throw that worthless servant outside,
into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of
teeth.'
Apostle Paul says the elder or the leader must
have this teaching ability through which they can instruct God’s
words in a convincing way to others. The leader must be having
a talent of teaching others and convince them to change their
opinion on life principles and finally follow the Lord as in 2
Tim 2:25 & 26, “Those who oppose him he must gently
instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading
them to a knowledge of the truth, Vs.26, “and that they
will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil,
who has taken them captive to do his will.”
May the Lord help each on of us to follow Him
to know more about Jesus and His word then use that knowledge
to instruct others to follow Jesus Christ our master. Amen.
