Prov. 3:11 & 12, “My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.”

Dear brothers and sisters,

Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today let us see about the importance of accepting the chastisement of God (discipline). The bible says God disciplines only whose whom He loves as in Prov. 3:12. When a father loves his children he will definitely try to correct the children whenever they commit any mistake. Our God is also correcting us and chastise us with his love to make us to live as per His commandments so that at the end we can have the privilege to enter into the kingdom of God.

In the new Testament we see first of all, God corrects us because of His love as in Heb 12:5 & 6, “And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves” Secondly, God corrects us when He consider us as His children as in Heb 12:6, “…and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."

We must endure these chastisements very happily from the hand of God, since God is leading only His children in His righteous path as in Heb 12:7 & 8, “Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.”

If we can understand the corrections what we had in the hands of our earthly father who much more we should cope up with these corrections from the hand of God or our spiritual father as in Heb12:9, “Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! The earthly fathers corrects there children as long as they have some hope in them but God corrects us until we part take in His holiness as in Heb 12:10, “Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.”

What to do now when we go through these corrections?
• First of all, no correction will be very pleasant in our lives when it is given to us. So, we must patiently bear with them with hope as in Heb 12:11, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”
• Secondly, we must praise God in all circumstances of our life as in Heb 12:12, “Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms.” - [Give thanks at all times and in all circumstances as in I Thes 5:18.]
• Thirdly, we must pray more when God corrects us as in Heb 12:12, “…and strengthen your weak knees.”
• Fourthly, we must be willing to get corrected like David as in Psa 141:5, “Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it.”

May the Lord help each one of us to have a confidence and trust on the love of God and patiently let us endure all the corrections we receive from Him. Remember this we are a blessed person if God corrects us as in Job 5:17, "Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.” Amen.

Today's Prayer
1 The unprecedented harvest being won in Africa, Asia and Latin America
Christianity has slightly declined as a percentage of the world’s population
2 The expansion of Evangelicals since 1960. They numbered 84.5 million (2.8%) in 1960, but in 2000 they were 420 million (6.9%)
3 The spread of Pentecostalism has been astonishing
4 The huge impact of the Charismatic movement on almost every denomination and megabloc
5 The strength and growth of the Church in lands that have, or have had, severe persecution
6 The manifest failure of human ideologies, which became more obvious in the 1980s and ‘90s
a) The collapse of Communism as a global threat, and the bankruptcy of atheism has caused significant turning to Christ in answer to prayer
b) Fundamentalist Islam has gained in political power and its ability to cause havoc in the world through subversion and sometimes terrorism, but has lost credibility in the minds of many Muslims
c) The Buddhist world has long proved a tough challenge with few major breakthroughs, but the rising tide of interest and concern for the Buddhist heartlands of Tibet and Mongolia is bearing fruit
7 The globalization of the world missions movement
a) The USA still remains the largest foreign missionary-sending nation, but South Korea has replaced the UK as the second
b) India’s missionary movement has grown enormously even as the foreign component has dwindled
8 The AD2000 and Beyond Movement launched in 1989 proved to be the most global, focused movement for world evangelization that there ever has been
a) The 10/40 Window focus was brilliantly successful
b) A great increase in research into the world’s peoples — at a global level in producing the Joshua Project List (JPL) of unreached peoples
c) The Joshua Project I was launched in 1995 to facilitate strategic planning, coordinated research and cooperative church planting during the remaining years of the 20th Century
d) A Church for every people — how far was the goal achieved
e) The gospel for every person. The Mark 16:15 version of the Great Commission exhorts preaching the gospel to every person
The sobering fact is that even with all this activity, probably 15-25% of the world’s population has not really heard the gospel in such a way as to respond to the offer of eternal salvation in Jesus Christ
