Rom 8:13 & 14, “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

Dear brothers and sisters,

Loving greetings in the name of our lord Jesus Christ. Today let us see about the importance of having the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. There are different ways in which the Holy Spirit can lead different people in their lives. Now we are in the safe hands of the Holy Spirit as the lord Jesus Christ has told in John 14:16 to 18, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” After receiving the Holy Spirit we must yield ourselves totally to the leading of the Holy Spirit so that we can remain as the sons of God as in Rom. 8:14.
1. In our Lord Jesus Christ life the Holy Spirit led him to go to the desert when he took the water baptism and received the Holy Spirit and fast and pray for forty days as in Mat 4:1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Also in Mat 4:2, “After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.”
2. Jesus Christ in His ministry driving out all the demons by the Holy Spirit as in Mat 12:28, “But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.”

3. The Holy Spirit brought Simon in the right time to see the dedication of the Lord Jesus by His parents when they took Him to the temple of God as in Luke 2:26, “It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Luke 2:27, “Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Luke 2:28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God.

4. Apostle Paul had the leading of the Holy Spirit to go to Jerusalem as in Acts 20:22 & 23, “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me.”

We must get this experience of being lead by the Holy Spirit, since that helps us to be totally under His control and leadership. When a person is lead and controlled by the Holy Spirit he has life and peace as in Rom 8:6, “The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;”

Let us do these things to be lead by the Holy Spirit in our lives:
• Ask and receive the Holy Spirit from God. If we do not have the Holy Spirit we are not belong to Christ as in Rom 8:9, “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.”

• After getting the anointing of God we are suppose to put to death the sinful nature through the Holy Spirit as in Rom 8:13, “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live”

• We must get and develop the gifts of the Holy Spirit as he gives us new spiritual gifts. The spirit of God help us to speak as in 1 Cor.2:13, “This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.”

• We must make use of all the help available to us through the Holy Spirit to grow in the lord. The spirit of God helps us in our spiritual lives as in Gal 5:16, “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Gal 5:18, “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.”

May the lord help each one of us to honor and walk in step with the Holy Spirit as in Gal 5:25, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” That we may remain as a child of God in our lives. Amen.
