Mat 25:14 & 15, “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.”

Dear brothers and sisters,

Loving greetings to you in the name of our lord Jesus Christ. Today let us learn some basic lessons about the kingdom of God which is growing in this world. Here we see about “the kingdom of heaven” which was compared to a man who went on a long journey after entrusting to his servants his property. He gave to different persons in a different levels as per their ability but he gave every one some thing to do for him. Because he wanted each of them to do some thing in his absence.

Jesus said about this to make us understand about the kingdom of God. So that we will work carefully without wasting any time since He is going to come back soon like a thief. The scripture says since we do not know the hour of the coming of the Lord we must be watchful as in Mat 25:13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”

First of all, let us understand this truth that, to different people different levels of talents given by the master:
• Five talents: Mat 25:16 The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more.
• Two talents: Mat 25:17 So also, the one with the two talents gained two more.
• One talents: Mat 25:18 But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.

Second, spiritual truth we must keep in mind is this definitely the master will come one day and ask for each ones accounts as in Mat 25:19, "After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.”

Thirdly, Each one must give their report before God as they gave their report here to their master explaining to him what they have done with the talents what the master have entrusted to them:
• Five talents: Mat 25:20, “The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.”
• Two talents: Mat 25:22 “The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'
• One talent: Mat 25:24 & 25, "Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.'

Fourthly, To each one the master took time and appreciated and rewarded for their faithfulness and their concern for the work except the one talent person who got his punishments and scolding:
1. Five talents: Mat 25:21 “His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
2. Two talents: Mat 25:23 “His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
3. One talent: this is the only person who got the scolding of the master because of his lack of trust and laziness as in Mat 25:26 & 27, "His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. Also in Mat 25:30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

Fifthly, the man who has will get more when he is faithful as in Mat 25:28 & 29, "'Take the talent from him and gave it to the one who had the ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.”
Mat 25:30, And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

So let us be wise in our spiritual walk and do the will of god and be ready to meet the lord. Today let us examine our self whether we use all the God given talents or not.

May God bless us today as you try to use all your talents for the glory of God in this world. Amen

Further Bible Study

(Mat 4:17 NIV) From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
(Mat 5:20 NIV) For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
(Mat 13:11 NIV) He replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
(Mat 16:19 NIV) I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
(Mat 18:3 NIV) And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
(Mat 18:4 NIV) Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
(Mat 19:14 NIV) Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
(Mat 19:23 NIV) Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
