Dear brothers and sisters,
Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Today let us see about the importance of learning and
following the commandments of God. We can divide the Ten Commandments
into two groups four of them are related to God. How we can honor
God in our lives. The remaining six are related to man how we
can honor the life given by God to us. These are very important
for us and for our children so we must follow them in our lives
to get the blessings of God for our entire family as in Deu 6:6
& 7; “These commandments that I give you today are to
be upon your hearts. Vs.7, “Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the
road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
In the first group we see four and they are: [they are related
to God
1. Do not worship any other gods – [Exo 20:3, "You
shall have no other gods before me. Deu 5:7, “You shall
have no other gods before me.]
2. Do not make any Idols. – [Lev 19:4, “'Do not turn
to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD
your God.]
3. Do not misuse the name of the lord. – [Exo 20:7, "You
shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will
not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.]
4. Keep the Sabbath Day holy – [Exo 20:8 to 10; "Remember
the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Vs.9, Six days you shall labor
and do all your work, vs.10, but the seventh day is a Sabbath
to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither
you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant,
nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.
In the second group [they are related to our life]
1. Honor your father and mother – [Exo 20:12, “Honor
your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the
land the LORD your God is giving you. Also in Mark 7:10 For Moses
said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses
his father or mother must be put to death.']
2. Do not murder – [Exo 20:13, “You shall not murder.]
3. Do not commit adultery – [Deu 5:18, “You shall
not commit adultery.]
4. Do not steal – [Deu 5:19, “You shall not steal.]
5. Do not lie – [Deu 5:20, “You shall not give false
testimony against your neighbor.]
6. Do not covert – [Deu 5:21, “You shall not covet
your neighbor's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's
house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey,
or anything that belongs to your neighbor."]
Our lord Jesus Christ summarized the ten in the New Testament
in two commandments as in Mat 22:37 to 40; “Jesus replied:
"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your mind.' Vs.38, This is the first and
greatest commandment. Vs.39, And the second is like it: 'Love
your neighbor as yourself.' Vs.40, All the Law and the Prophets
hang on these two commandments."
May the Lord help each one of us to learn and follow his commandment
in this month in our own lives. Amen.
