Dear brothers and sisters,
Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Today let us see about the importance of taking possession
of the land in the right time when God says to possess it. We
see the lord was telling them to go and posses the land as in
Deu 1:21, “See, - [there are some five important points
we must keep in mind.]
1. The LORD your God has given you the land. – [The lord
has very clearly told them that He has given them the land that
means it is done but the people could not believe that it can
be won that easily.]
2. Go up and – [if they would have believed the lord they
would have gone to possess the land but the people of God had
their own doubts and because of that they could not go in obedience
to the word of God.]
3. Take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers,
told you. – [When God gives the land the people who believe
in him has to go and possess the land and take the ownership of
that land and stay their but the people of God had their own doubts
and they did not act on faith.]
4. Do not be afraid; - [God said do not afraid of any thing since
it is He who is giving them the land to possess it. He will win
the native people and give them the promise land but still no
one could believe the lord.]
5. Do not be discouraged." – [if we are depressed in
our own spirit we cannot go and possess the land. So we must cheer
up ourselves with the promise words of God and go in faith. Never
allow the doubts to enter in to our brain.]
Whenever we could not believe God, we will try to act on our
own intellect and try to do something else. The people of Israel
also did the same since they couldn’t believe God and go
and possess the land they simply came with another plan that is
to send some spies to the land to see How good the land was as
in Deu 1:22, “Then all of you came to me and said, "Let
us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a
report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come
to."
When they send twelve spies to spy the land as per their own
plan instead of possessing the land what God was giving to them,
it brought many more sin in their lives. Ten, out of the twelve
spies came with their negative news to make the people of God
to sin against the lord as in Num 13:31 to 33; “But the
men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those
people; they are stronger than we are. Vs.32, And they spread
among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored.
They said, "The land we explored devours those living in
it. All the people we saw there are of great size. Vs.33, “We
saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the
Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we
looked the same to them." Whenever we listen to the negative
reports which are said against the word of God there will be grumbling
and we will definitely sin against the lord as in Num 14:1 &
2, “That night all the people of the community raised their
voices and wept aloud. vs.2, “All the Israelites grumbled
against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them,
"If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert!
May the Lord help each one of us to follow him in this month
in an intelligent manner and possess the land immediately in the
right time by whole heartedly trusting him as he is giving it
to us. Amen.
