Dear
brothers and sisters,
Loving
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. For this month of October
let us meditate how God can make us prosper and when God will give us
rest in our lives and to obtain this what we are suppose to do now.
2
Chr 14:2 And Asa did good and right in the sight of the LORD his God, …2 Chr 14:7
For he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them
with walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because
we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He has given
us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
What
we must do to get the Peace of God in our Life?
(The
answer is in what King Asa did good and right in the eyes of the
LORD, there are thirty things to note.)
2
Chr 14:2 - Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD
his God,
- 2
Chr 14:3 for he removed the altars of the foreign gods.
- And
he removed the high places,
- And
he broke down the sacred pillars
- And
he cut down the wooden images.
- 2
Chr 14:4 He commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers,
- And
He commanded Judah to observe the law
- And
He commanded Judah the commandment.
- 2
Chr 14:5 He also removed the high places
- And
He also removed the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and
the kingdom was quiet under him.
- 2
Chr 14:6 And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had
rest;
- He
had no war in those years, because the LORD had given him rest. He
made use of that time and made some useful things for the safety of
the country as in 2 Chr 14:7 Therefore he said to Judah, "Let
us build these cities,
- And
made walls around them,
- And
made towers,
- And
made Gates,
- And
bars, while the land is yet before us,
- Because
we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He
has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
- Kept
prepared for war, while they were at peace as in 2 Chr 14:8 And Asa
had an army of three hundred thousand from Judah who carried shields
and spears, and from Benjamin two hundred and eighty thousand men
who carried shields and drew bows; all these were mighty men of valor.
- Cried
to God and trusted in him during the war time as in 2 Chr 14:11 to
15, “And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, "LORD,
it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who
have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in
Your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God; do
not let man prevail against You!"
- Put
away the abominable Idols away from the Land of Judah and Benjamin
as in 2 Chr 15:8 And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of
Oded the prophet, he took courage, and removed the abominable idols
from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which
he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim;
- He
restored the altar of the LORD that was before the vestibule of the
LORD.
- Held
a holy convocation as in 2 Chr 15:9 Then he gathered all Judah and
Benjamin, and those who dwelt with them from Ephraim, Manasseh, and
Simeon, for they came over to him in great numbers from Israel when
they saw that the LORD his God was with him. 2 Chr 15:10 So they
gathered together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth
year of the reign of Asa.
- Gave
the Lord from all his income as in 2 Chr 15:11 And they offered to
the LORD at that time seven hundred bulls and seven thousand sheep
from the spoil they had brought.
- He
entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God as in 2 Chr 15:12 Then
they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers
with all their heart and with all their soul; 2 Chr 15:13 and whoever
would not seek the LORD God of Israel was to be put to death, whether
small or great, whether man or woman.
- Made
a promise to God to serve him only as in 2 Chr 15:14 Then they took
an oath before the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting and trumpets
and rams' horns.
- Rejoiced
with the people when they took a decision for God as in 2 Chr 15:15
And all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their
heart and sought Him with all their soul; and He was found by them,
and the LORD gave them rest all around.
- Removed
his own mother from her queen ship since she did nor honor God as
in 2 Chr 15:16 Also he removed Maachah, the mother of Asa the king,
from being queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of
Asherah; and
- Asa
cut down her obscene image, then crushed and burned it by the Brook
Kidron.
- Asa
was loyal all his days as in 2 Chr 15:17 But the high places were
not removed from Israel. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was loyal all
his days.
- 2
Chr 15:18 He also brought into the house of God the things that his
father had dedicated and that he himself had dedicated: silver and
gold and utensils.
- He
was a good King so there were no war during his time as in 2 Chr 15:19
And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
What
all the blessings we can get from the Lord?
God
can give us undisturbed peace (rest) and Prosperity.
2
Chr 14:6 And he built fortified cities in Judah, since the land
was undisturbed,
1.
Prov 16:7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even
his enemies live at peace with him.
2.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not
give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and
do not be afraid.
3.
1 Cor 14:33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in
all the congregations of the saints,
4.
Phil 4:6 & 7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to
God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will
guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
And
there was no one at war with him during those years, because the
LORD had given him rest.
1.
Isa 28:12 to whom he said, "This is the resting place, let
the weary rest"; and, "This is the place of repose"--
but they would not listen.
2.
Mat 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
3.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle
and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
2
Chr 14:7 For he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround
them with walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours,
because we have sought the LORD our God; we have sought Him, and He
has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
To
prosper in life we need the help of God.
Dear
brothers and sisters, God has a special plan to prosper you in this
month as in Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares
the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future.
Definitely
God will prosper us when we walk in all the way that the LORD your God
has commanded as in Deu 5:33 Walk in all the way that the LORD your
God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong
your days in the land that you will possess.
We
will prosper as we obey God s in Deu 6:24 The LORD commanded us to obey
all these decrees and to fear the LORD our God, so that we might always
prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today.
When
we carefully follow the things of God there will be prosperity as in
Deu 29:9 Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may
prosper in everything you do.
A
righteous will prosper to make the city rejoice as in Prov 11:10 When
the righteous prosper, the city rejoices.
And
a generous man will prosper as in Prov 11:25 A generous man will prosper.
Let
us see some of those who prospered even in a very difficult situation
in the strange land because of God.
- Joseph in the strange
land as in Gen 39:2 “The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and
he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.
- The
King Solomon even in a very young age as a king of the whole Israel
as in 1 Chr 29:23 “So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king
in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him.
- The
King Asa prospered by the Lord as in 2 Chr 14:7 "Let us build
up these towns," he said to Judah, "and put walls around
them, with towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because
we have sought the LORD our God; we sought him and he has given us
rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
- The
King Hezekiah did what was good and right and faithful before the
LORD as in 2 Chr 31:21 “In everything that he undertook in the service
of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought
his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.
- Daniel
Prospered as in Dan 6:28 “So Daniel prospered during the reign of
Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
- Ezek
36:11 I will increase the number of men and animals upon you, and
they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on
you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then
you will know that I am the LORD.
- Acts
13:17 The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers; he made the
people prosper during their stay in Egypt, with mighty power he led
them out of that country,
May
the Lord help each one of us to have a real peace of God and cause us
to prosper in our life in spite of difficulties in life. Amen.
With
love and prayers for you to prosper in this world.
