Dear brothers and sisters of our “Baroda Bible Club”

Loving greetings in the name of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.  In this month February 2002, we are going to claim all these seven promises and the blessings of our Lord by carefully fulfilling all these seven conditions given by our God.

What all we have to do for the Lord to act on our behalf that we may have all these blessings of our God: There are seven areas in which we have to be very careful to please our Lord.  They are listed here, so we have to really take pains to avoid all these which has to avoided and we have to be very careful to do what has to be followed in our lives to inherit the blessings of our Lord through these promise words.

(1.), Josh 23:6 "Be very strongHere be very strong means (sturdy, tough) – stand firm for the lord without changing your mind.  Since he is the unchanging God and remains the same yesterday, today and forever.  Apostle Paul also says the importance of taking a firm stand as a believer in 2 Cor 6:14 to 16, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?  What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

(2.), Be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the   right or to the left.In Josh 23:16 If you violate the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the Lord's anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you."  Since obedience is better as in 1 Sam 15:22 But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

(3.), Josh 23:7 Do not connect with these nations that remain among you.  Do not connect means (unite, join, attach) with these nations that remain among you; - In 2 Cor 6:17 & 18, "Therefore come out from them and be separate, here separate means (disconnect, break up and detach) says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.  I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

(4.), Do not invoke the names of their gods or swear by them. You must not serve them or bow down to them.  Do not invoke means (appeal to, call upon, pray to) the names of their gods or swear means (vow, pledge) by them. You must not serve them means (supply, give) so we cannot give or offer any thing to them that means we are serving them.  In Josh 23:16 If you violate the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the Lord's anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you."  Apostle Paul says in 1 Cor 8:3 & 4, “But if any man love God, the same is known of him.  As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.  He also said in 1 Cor 8:5 & 6, “For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

(5.), Josh 23:8 But you are to hold fast to the LORD your God, as you have until now.  But you are to hold fast means (Cleave to, cling to, grasp, clutch) to the LORD your God, as you have until now.  In Deu 10:20 “Fear the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name”.  In Deu 13:4 It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.  Our Lord Jesus told in Mat 6:24  "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

(6.), So be very careful to love the LORD your God”.   So be very careful means (Watchful, alert, vigilant) to love means (be devoted to, be fond of, be keen on to worship) the LORD your God”  - In Deu 30:20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  Also in Josh 22:5 But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul."  Apostle Paul says in Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

(7.), Josh 23:12 Do not intermarry with them and associate.  "But if you turn away and ally means (partner) yourselves with the survivors of these nations that remain among you and if you intermarry with them and associate means (link, join together) with them.  In Josh 23:13 then you may be sure that the LORD your God will no longer drive out these nations before you. Instead, they will become snares and traps for you, whips on your backs and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land, which the LORD your God has given you.  Apostle Paul says in 2 Cor 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.

What the Lord has promised unto us when we serve him faithfully:

In Josh 23:3: You yourselves have seen everything the LORD your God has done to all these nations in the past now let us also enjoy all these blessings in our life:

(1.), for your sake; it was the LORD your God who fought for you.God working for us is a very good and a blessed state in which we won’t have any tensions in our mind. (Josh 23:3)

(2.), Josh 23:5 The LORD your God himself will drive them out of your way. He will push them out before you, - God will clear the way for you and straiten all our paths.

(3.), you will take possession of their land, as the LORD your God promised you.  – God will help us to get their land as a possession for us to live and serve the Lord since every thing basically belong to our God who has created and owns all things.

(4.), "The LORD has driven out before you great and powerful nations as in (Josh 23:9 NIV)  "The LORD has driven out before you great and powerful nations; to this day no one has been able to withstand you.  In Deu 11:22 & 23, If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you to follow--to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways and to hold fast to him then the LORD will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations larger and stronger than you.  In Num 32:21 and if all of you will go armed over the Jordan before the LORD until he has driven his enemies out before him.  Also in Deu 9:4 After the LORD your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, "The LORD has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness." No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is going to drive them out before you.  In Judg 11:23 "Now since the LORD, the God of Israel, has driven the Amorites out before his people Israel, what right have you to take it over?

(5.), To this day no one has been able to withstand you. – We will be very special and outstanding since the Lord is with us.  In Josh 10:8 “The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you." Because our God also is like this as in 2 Chr 20:6 and said: "O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you.  Also in Nahum 1:6 Who can withstand his indignation? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; the rocks are shattered before him.  In Psa 147:17 “He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?

(6.), One of you routs a thousand, - You will be supernaturally strong and powerful that nobody can stand before you.  In Judg 15:15 & 16, “finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men. Then Samson said, "With a donkey's jawbone I have made donkeys of them. With a donkey's jawbone I have killed a thousand men.  The Bible says, “One can pursue thousand and the two can chase ten thousand”.

(7.), Because the LORD your God fights for you, just as he promised. - We are not alone and the Lord our God fighting all our battles since we made a covenant with him and stand firmly on the side of the Lord as a holy people only devoted to him. Since Lord Jesus has promised in Mat.28:20 to be with us always don’t worry.

May the Lord help us to have all these blessings in this month for the glory of our Lord. As in Josh 23:11, So let us be very careful to love the LORD your God in this month, this New Year and for the entire life. Because getting the blessings of God and preserving them in our lives both are equally important.  In Josh 23:15 & 16, But just as every good promise of the LORD your God has come true, so the LORD will bring on you all the evil he has threatened, until he has destroyed you from this good land he has given you.

If you violate the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the Lord's anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you."   Amen.
