God's Promise For March - 2001

Lev 25:18 & 19, "Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land. Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety.

(A) Follow my decrees
(B) be careful to obey my laws,

(1) you will live safely in the land.
(2) Then the land will yield its fruit,
(3) you will eat your fill
(4) live there in safety."

Dear Brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, Loving greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. As a child of God let us meditate what the Lord says unto us today.

Nowadays many people are living in fear because of the recent earthquakes. When we follow these steps, we need not worry about any thing. As a child of God let us meditate what the Lord says unto us today.

We have to do these two things in our lives as the Lord has commanded unto us in Lev 25:18

(1) Follow my decrees and

(2) be careful to obey my laws,

Certainly our God will bless us with four types of blessings as in Lev 25:19

(1) you will live safely in the land.

(2) Then the land will yield its fruit

(3) you will eat your fill

(4) live there in safety."

Follow my decrees

1. Lev 18:4 & 5, "You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God. Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD."

2. (Lev 19:37 NIV) "'Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the LORD.'"

3. (Lev 20:8 NIV) Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD, who makes you holy.

4. (Lev 20:22 NIV) "'Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out. (Lev.18:28)

5. (Lev 26:3,4 NIV) "'If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit.

6. (Ezek 11:20 NIV) Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

7. (Ezek 18:9 NIV) He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign LORD.

8. (Ezek 20:11 NIV) I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them.

9. (Ezek 18:17 NIV) He withholds his hand from sin and takes no usury or excessive interest. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father's sin; he will surely live.

10. (Ezek 18:19 NIV) "Yet you ask, 'Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?' Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live.

11. Gen 26:4 & 5 "And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws."

12. (1 Ki 6:12 NIV) "As for this temple you are building, if you follow my decrees, carry out my regulations and keep all my commands and obey them, I will fulfill through you the promise I gave to David your father.

13. (2 Chr 7:17,18 NIV) "As for you, if you walk before me as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a man to rule over Israel.’

God can help us to obey the word of God.

Ezek 36:27 "And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

What is God asking us to do?

1. Mal 3:7 "Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty. "But you ask, 'How are we to return?'

2. Lev 25:18 " be careful to obey my laws,

(Lev 18:4 NIV) You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God.

(Lev 25:18 NIV) "'Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land.

God will bless us with four type of blessings in return as in Lev 25:19

(1) To live (stay) in the Land.

The Bible says in (Lev 20:22 NIV) "'Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out. In Lev.18:28 "That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.

(2) Then the land will yield its produce,

Many times we forget this fact that the land can also produce more if we totally obey the word of God as in Lev 25:20 'But if you say, "What are we going to eat on the seventh year if we do not sow or gather in our crops?" Lev 25:21 then I will so order My blessing for you in the sixth year that it will bring forth the crop for three years.

One year as a bonus for all our obedience unto the Lord.

(3) so that you can eat your fill

In the beginning God told in Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; Also in Exo 16:12 "I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, 'At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God.'"

Exo 16:13 So it came about at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.

Exo 16:14 When the layer of dew evaporated, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine flake-like thing, fine as the frost on the ground.

Exo 16:18 When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat.

(4) live securely on it.

(Lev 26:5 NASB) 'Indeed, your threshing will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time. You will thus eat your food to the full and live securely in your land.

(Prov 1:33 NASB) "But he who listens to me shall live securely, And shall be at ease from the dread of evil."

(Ezek 28:26 NASB) "And they will live in it securely; and they will build houses, plant vineyards, and live securely, when I execute judgments upon all who scorn them round about them. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God."'"

(Ezek 34:25 NASB) "And I will make a covenant of peace with them and eliminate harmful beasts from the land, so that they may live securely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.

(Ezek 34:28 NASB) "And they will no longer be a prey to the nations, and the beasts of the earth will not devour them; but they will live securely, and no one will make them afraid.

(Ezek 39:26 NASB) "And they shall forget their disgrace and all their treachery which they perpetrated against Me, when they live securely on their own land with no one to make them afraid.

The Bible says in Psa 4:8 "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety."

If we DO NOT obey and follow the word of God

1. (Lev 26:15 NIV) and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant,

2. (Lev 26:43 NIV) For the land will be deserted by them and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They will pay for their sins because they rejected my laws and abhorred my decrees.

3. (1 Ki 11:11 NIV) So the LORD said to Solomon, "Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates.

4. Ezek 5:6 & 7 "Yet in her wickedness she has rebelled against my laws and decrees more than the nations and countries around her. She has rejected my laws and has not followed my decrees. Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: You have been more unruly than the nations around you and have not followed my decrees or kept my laws. You have not even conformed to the standards of the nations around you."

5. (Ezek 20:13 NIV) "'Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the desert. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws--although the man who obeys them will live by them--and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the desert.

6. (Ezek 20:16 NIV) because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.

7. (Ezek 20:21 NIV) "'But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws--although the man who obeys them will live by them--and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in the desert.

8. (Ezek 20:24 NIV) because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their fathers' idols.

9. (Zec 1:6 NIV) But did not my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your forefathers? "Then they repented and said, 'The LORD Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as he determined to do.'"

The Holy Bible, New International Version

14"‘But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, 15and if
you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands
and so violate my covenant, 16then I will do this to you: I will bring upon you
sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and drain
away your life. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it. 17I
will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those
who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing
you.

18"‘If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins
seven times over. 19I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky
above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. 20Your strength will
be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of
the land yield their fruit.

21"‘If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply
your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve. 22I will send wild animals
against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make
you so few in number that your roads will be deserted.

23"‘If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction but continue to
be hostile toward me, 24I myself will be hostile toward you and will afflict you
for your sins seven times over. 25And I will bring the sword upon you to avenge
the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a
plague among you, and you will be given into enemy hands. 26When I cut off
your supply of bread, ten women will be able to bake your bread in one oven, and
they will dole out the bread by weight. You will eat, but you will not be satisfied.

27"‘If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile
toward me, 28then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will
punish you for your sins seven times over. 29You will eat the flesh of your sons
and the flesh of your daughters. 30I will destroy your high places, cut down your
incense altars and pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I
will abhor you. 31I will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste your sanctuaries,
and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings. 32I will lay
waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled. 33I will
scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your
land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins. 34Then the land will enjoy
its sabbath years all the time that it lies desolate and you are in the country of
your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. 35All the time that it
lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not have during the sabbaths you
lived in it.

36"‘As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the
lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight.
They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though
no one is pursuing them. 37They will stumble over one another as though fleeing
from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to
stand before your enemies. 38You will perish among the nations; the land of your
enemies will devour you. 39Those of you who are left will waste away in the
lands of their enemies because of their sins; also because of their fathers’ sins
they will waste away.
