God's Promise For July - 2001

Promise

2 Ki 18:7 And the LORD was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook.

Bible Passage 2 Ki 18:2-7

Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. Hezekiah did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done. He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan.) "Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. Hezekiah held fast to the LORD and did not cease to follow him; he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses. And the LORD was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook.

Path to real success

2 Ki 18:2 Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king. Anyone who is at the young age has no experience also can become a great successful person If the Lord is with him. Hezekiah was successful because the Lord was with him.

1. Hezekiah did what was right in the eyes of the LORD (2 Ki 18:3)

To do what is right in the eyes of the Lord, one has to very much determine to do the will of God; otherwise it is not possible to please God.

  • He removed the high places, (2 Ki 18:4)
  • smashed the sacred stones and
  • cut down the Asherah poles.
  • He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan.)

2. Hezekiah trusted in the LORD (2 Ki 18:5)

By trusting in the Lord, he must have had perfect peace of mind in his life as Bible says in Isa 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Why not let us trust God and have this peace in our life also?

There was no one like him and there will be no one like him in the future that means an outstanding person in the history.

3. Hezekiah disciplined himself to be a successful person (2 Ki 18:6)

  • Hezekiah held fast to the LORD
  • did not cease to follow him;
  • he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses.

The LORD was with him (2 Ki 18:7)

2 Ki 18:7 "And the LORD was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. The Lord was with him.

May the Lord help us to walk with our Lord Jesus Christ to have great success in our life in this month onwards. Amen.
