Dear Brothers
and sisters,
We must
learn from the great people of the Bible some valuable lessons to grow
in our own success in life. This man Daniel was very much successful
in different kingdoms under different rulers as in Dan 6:28 So Daniel
prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
Let us learn the secrets of this great man of God.
- Daniel a man of
purpose. If we do not have any purpose in life we cannot come
up in our life. In Dan 1:8 But Daniel resolved not to defile
himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief
official for permission not to defile himself this way. First he sets
his own goals in life and then he puts it into practice by acting
on that decision he made as in Dan 1:9 to 15, Now God had caused the
official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel, but the official told
Daniel, I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food
and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young
men your age? The king would then have my head because of you. Daniel
then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, Please test your
servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat
and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young
men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance
with what you see. So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished
than any of the young men who ate the royal food.
- Daniel a man of
prayer. With out prayer there is no victory in our spiritual
life and in the life of Daniel we see he prayed to God three times
a day. He not only prayed to God three times in a day but also did
not fear men as in Dan 6:10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree
had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows
opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees
and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
In Dan 9:3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer
and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. Also in Dan
9:21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the
earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening
sacrifice.
- Daniel a man of
perfect living. It was very difficult for all the enemies
of Daniel to get some thing against the Daniel as in Dan 6:4 At this,
the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges
against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were
unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he
was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Dan 6:5 Finally
these men said, "We will never find any basis for charges against
this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his
God."
- Daniel a man of
praise and worship. He gave all honor and credit to God for
saving him from the hands of all as in Dan.6:22 My God sent his angel,
and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because
I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong
before you, O king." We must also learn to give the due respect to
the kings and leaders and should not forget all the benefits we got
from the Lord. In Daniel we can see both as in Towards the king he
paid his Dan 6:21 Daniel answered, "O king, live forever!
- Daniel a man of
patience. He prayed to God in all difficult time until he
got the right answer with all patience as in Dan 10:12 Then he continued,
"Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind
to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your
words were heard, and I have come in response to them. He did not
give up when there was no answer from God for twenty one days as in
Dan 10:13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one
days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me,
because I was detained there with the king of Persia. Dan 10:14 Now
I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the
future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come."
May the
Lord help us to follow these things in our own life.
